Our Origin Story
In the fall of 2023, a dedicated group of community leaders came together, united by a common purpose: to create a space that would serve as the heartbeat of the DeKalb County community. For years, we had been involved in various forms of service—from operating food pantries to pastoring churches to leading multiple nonprofit homeschooling groups—witnessing first hand both the needs and the potential of the people we served.
As our reach grew, we began to see a common thread. While nonprofits were doing incredible work, community members often needed support from multiple organizations, and nonprofits themselves struggled to find affordable, sustainable spaces in which to operate. This realization sparked what is now our vision.
Since then, the momentum behind this vision has grown rapidly. Our Board of Directors quickly expanded as others were inspired by our mission and the potential impact this organization can have on the DeKalb County community. We are now the Community Dreams Alliance (CDA), and while our journey has just begun, our dreams extend far beyond DeKalb. We envision a future where our model can be replicated in other communities—helping them come together, share resources, and create spaces of hope, opportunity, and connection.
